Morphology and distribution of antennal sensilla in Opisina arenosella walker (Lepidoptera: Xyloryctinae)

The antennae of Opisina arenosella Walker are of fliform type. Scanning Electron microscopic techniques were used to study sensilla of the antennae and fve morphological types viz., sensilla chaetica, trichoid sensilla, basiconic sensilla, styloconic sensilla and coeloconic sensilla were found. The antennae of male and female are similar in appearance, but they differ with respect to length and total number of sensilla.
