Studies on Varroa, a parasitic mite on honeybee colonies in Shivalik hills, western Himalaya

Abstract

An attempt was made to collect the Varroa species from the colonies of Apis mellifera (l.) in Shivalik hills and morphometric analysis was done by using micrometer scales. Results revealed that this kind of Varroa specimen was first time reported from North India, which is near to unresolved species of Philippines taxon (Mindanao haplotype).
