Abstract

Studies on insect infestation in raw cashew nuts under different methods of storage over a period of 12 months showed the lowest infestation in nuts stored in markin cloth bags (14.46%) and the highest infestation in nuts of synthetic cement bags (27.50%). The lowest incidence of red rust flour beetle (RRFB), pulse beetle (Pb) and apple and nut borer (ANb) together was in markin cloth bags while nuts in synthetic cement bags suffered the highest infestation by these insects in all the three years of study.
