The tolerance of silkworm to BmNPV (Bombyx mori nuclear polyhedrosis virus) is controlled by polygenes. Evaluation of silkworm races for tolerance to BmNPV was carried out at Biology Division, IICT, Hyderabad. The 4th instar silkworm larvae were per orally inoculated with BmNPV polyhedra (1x107/ml) and reared up to spinning. Among 56 silkworm races screened, 10 multivoltines and 6 bivoltines were found to be real tolerance to BmNPV.
