Butterfly diversity in two selected sites in Palakkad District, Kerala

Abstract

A total of 35 species of butterflies belonging to 5 families were collected. Nymphalidae (Danaeidae) was the largest amongst the identified families at Site I (Chittur), whereas Papilionidae was the dominant family at Site II (Kavasserry). Out of the two sampling sites, Site-I (Chittur) had the maximum species diversity.
