Abstract

The foraging speed (time spent in second/flower) among Apis spp. on toria var. RAUTS-17 and BR-23 showed that maximum foraging speed was recorded in Apis mellifera followed by Apis dorsata, Apis cerana indica and Apis florea and it was also observed that maximum foraging speed was after mid-day and minimum in evening hours in both the varieties. The foraging rate (no. of flowers visited by bees/minute/m2 area) among Apis spp. was maximum in Apis florea followed by Apis cerana indica. Apis dorsata and Apis mellifera on all dates of the observations.
