Abstract

The composition of litter fauna was analyzed in three different Iand use systems in Kavassery Panchayath of Palakkad district, Kerala. Sampling was carried out in August 2008 in a sacred grove area, rubber plantation and teak plantation located in Palakkad district. At each site 10 random core samples were taken. Fauna was extracted by simplest floatation methods and Berlese-Tullgren funnels and preserved in 75% elhanol. The abundance of litter fauna was significantly higher in the litter under the sacred grove and the faunal communities were contrasted between the sites.
