Abstract

A study was conducted to explore the insecticidal potential of solvent and aqueous plant extracts of Pogostemon parviflorus (Benth.) on growth and developmental activities of Helopeltis theivora (waterhouse). Insects were exposed to the extract treated tender tea leaves. All the extracts exhibit growth inhibitory action to the various developemental stages of tea mosquito bug (H. theivora (waterhouse). however, highest significant effect on the growth and development of bug with chloroform extracts at 4.0% concentration was achieved as prolonged nymphal duration, low adult emergence percentage (15.16 ± 0.75) reduced adult longevity (10.83 ± 0.75 days) in male and (9.67 ± 1.77 days) in female decreased percent reproduction success (25.16 ± 0.75) and reduced growth index(0.67 ± 0.03%) then the other solvent extracts.
