Abstract

Based on the LC50 values, most of the new insecticides were found to be more toxic to P. xylostella (DBM) larvae than the conventional insecticides. Among the new molecules, flubendiamide, spinosad and emamectin benzoate were highly toxic to the susceptible DBM strain followed by novaluron, flufenoxuron and indoxacarb. Chlorfenapyr was least toxic among the new insecticides. Among the other insecticides, the B.t. product, Dipel 8L was more toxic to the susceptible strain followed by cypermethrin, profenofos, methomyl and endosulfan.
