Abstract

The data pertaining to the studies on the effect of modified atmosphere with elevated levels of CO2 on pod damage of stored groundnut was indicated that except 10 per cent CO2 concentration all the remaining concentrations of co2 viz., 20, 30 and 40 did not record any pod damage even after six months of treatment. Exposure of pods to low concentrations of 10% CO2 treatment though protected the seed up to 3 months but after six months infestation increased and went upto 50.79% pod damage and 43.1% seed damage after nine months. However the normal air treatment recorded 58.49 and 68.97 per cent pod and seed damage respectively. Besides 2.33 live larvae and 6.67 live pupae were observed as against 0.71 and 1.50 in the 10% co2 concentration respectively.
