Studies on insect succession pattern in buried piece of pork revealed the presence of 41 insect specimens belonging to 3 orders, 9 families and 13 species. 10 specimens belonging to 4 families and 5 species from order Diptera were observed. These are Chrysomya megacephala (Calliphoridae) Sarcophaga sp. (Sarcophagidae), Musca domestica, Musca autumnalis (Muscidae) and Anthomyia sp. (Anthomyiidae). 14 specimens belonging to 4 families and 6 species from order Coleoptera were observed and these are Euspilotus assimilis & Saprinus sp. (Histeridae), Dermestes maculatus (Dermestidae), Gonocephalum patruele, Typhaea stercorea (Tenebrionidae), Pterostichus melanarius (Carabidae) and 17 specimens belonging to 2 species i.e. Pheidole indica and Camponotus compressus of family formicidae from order hymenoptera were also observed in this experiment.
