Abstract

Studies on biology of Chrysoperla carnea on Corcyra cephalonica indicated that the incubation period of C. carnea was significantly minimum to the extent of 2.96 days at 30°C followed by 25°C (4.0 days) and 20°C (06.26 days). The significantly maximum egg hatching (98.00 per cent) of C. carnea was observed at 25°C followed by 20°C (93.94 per cent) and 30°C (85.00 per cent). The growth index and the larval duration of C. carnea were 4.43, 8.87 and 13.43 and 20.93, 10.81 and 6.96 days at 20, 25 and 30°C, respectively. The significantly lowest pupal duration of 4.25 days was observed at 30°C temperature followed by 6.76 days at 25°C and 19.95 days at 20°C. Significantly the shortest life-cycle duration of 33.28 and 32.07 days by female and male of C. carnea was observed at 30°C. The pre-oviposition period (5.83 days) was lowest at 30°C while oviposition period (22.20 days) of C. carnea was highest at 25°C.
