Abstract

Gamma irradiated Steinernema carpocapsae BA2 with 2Gy was tested against larvae of cotton leaf worm, Spodoptera littoralis (Boisd.) under laboratory conditions. Results showed that 2Gy irradiated S. carpocapsae BA2 was substantially effective in controlling S. littoralis larvae. the changes in oxidative stress and antioxidative responses were estimated through catalase, peroxidase, glutathione reduced level and lipid peroxidation level. results further indicated a disturbance in the level of oxidative stress and antioxidative responses in the S. littoralis larvae, which increased when using irradiated S. carpocapsae. It was aforementioned that 2Gy irradiated S. carpocapsae BA2 has an effect on antioxidant and stress changes in infected S. littoralis, which lead to larval death.
