Evaluation of larvicidal activity of Swertia chirata and Datura metel leaves against filarial vector mosquito, Culex quinquefasciatus

The present study was conducted to find a environmentally safe and eco-friendly solution for the control of Filarial mosquito vector, Culex quinquefasciatus. two plants, Swertia chirata and Datura metel were tried against C. quinquefasciatus in extract form. the important toxic plant was Swertia chirata.S. chirata has yet, not been reported for its mosquitocidal activity, though its insecticidal activity have been reported against painted bug A. graminis and against jute semilooper (Anomis sabulifera).
