Abstract

Quantitative distribution of soil micro arthropods studied in three different ecosystems viz., agroecosystem, forest ecosystem and fallow land of Jorhat district of Assam through tullgren Funnel Method (tFM) showed highest population of soil arthropods in the month of August (2989.81/m2) and lowest in the month of April (525.21/m2). the maximum number of soil arthropods (9312.02/m2) was recorded from the forest ecosystem followed by agro ecosystem (5505.38/m2) and fallow land (4227.00/m2). Amidst all the soil arthropods, 3454.47, 2474.31 and 2154.69/m2 collembolans were recorded from forest, agro and fallow land ecosystem respectively. soil mites were found to be the next dominant group which comprised of 2534.74, 1897.87 and 1333.41/m2 in forest, agro and fallow land ecosystem respectively.
