Frequency of urban pests and pesticides consumption in the residential houses of the east of Tehran city, Iran

Abstract

Results showed that mosquitoes with the rate of 59.2% are the most prevalent among pests while spiders with the rate of 9.6% are the lowest. In 85.6% of the houses, chemical pesticides are being used of which 57.7%, uses the spray formulations to fight pests. Out of 1267 families, 1003 (79/16%) experienced complications. Among the pesticide users, 79.0% used personal protection equipment. the contamination rate of residential houses in tehran is high as most people use pesticide to control pests. training ordinary people about various pests and the risks associated with the use of pesticides and getting help from sellers in order to raise buyers’ awareness of toxins can improve the health rate, in the field of pesticides consumption.
