Abstract

Results indicated that among tested Bt and non Bt brinjal hybrids, Bt hybrids performed significantly superior proving future weapon to combat against shoot and fruit borer. All Bt brinjal hybrids were superior than their non Bt counterparts recording less shoot damage. MHB 80 Bt (3.85) and MHB 9 Bt (2.53); MHB 9 Bt (3.13) and MHB-10 Bt (2.88) were promising against brinjal shoot and fruit borer recording minimum fruit damage on number and weight basis respectively. The yields ranged from 283.5 to 472.5 q/ha. Higher yield (q/h) was recorded in MHBJ-99 Bt (472.5) followed by MHB-4 Bt (419.5). Marketable yield ranged from 266.7 to 470.9 q/ha. Highest marketable yield was recorded in MHBJ-99 Bt (470.9) followed by MHB-4 Bt (416.3).
