Efficacy of certain insecticides against leafhopper and whitefly infesting Brinjal (Solanum melongena L.)

Abstract

Two sprays each of Eight chemicals viz., novaluron 10 EC, indoxacarb 14.5 SC, fipronil 5 SC, imidacloprid 17.8 SL, emamectin benzoate 5 SG, spinosad 45 SC, acephate 75 SP, and thiamethoxam 25 WG were evaluated in two spray schedule against leafhopper and whitefly. Imidacloprid 17.8 SL @ 125 g a.i./ha and acephate 75 SP @ 750 g a.i./ha recorded lowest whitefly population (1.88 and 2.41; 1.99 and 2.53) per three leaves per plant during 1st and 2nd spraying, respectively. The leafhopper population was also lowest in imidacloprid 17.8 SL and acephate 75 SP (1.86 and 2.72; 2.28 and 2.95).
