Abstract

Seven groups of albino wistar rats with excision wounds were treated with lotion made from Propolis extract harvested from the Morena (Gwalior), Himachal Pradesh and Kashmir. Nivea cold cream was mixed in the different ratio (1: 99, 10: 90, 50: 50 and 25: 25: 50). The lotion was applied to the wound once a daily. The wounds of the 70% of rats showed remarkable signs of improvement at the end of 16th day and the remaining 30% healed completely at the end of 20th day. All healed wounds were without scars and blisters. It can be concluded that the propolis lotion has great potential for the treatment of wounds.
