The results revealed that, hexythiazox 5.45 EC was very effective against O. coffeae in tea. The highest dose i.e. 50 g a.i. ha−1 was found very effective against the pest but not statistically superior to its lower doses 30 and 25 g a.i ha−1. Hexythiazox @ 50 g a.i ha−1 recorded an average per cent reduction of 74.47 and 64.66 per cent mite population at Iyerpadi estate and Lower Paralai estate, respectively. Hexythiazox @ 30 g a.i. ha−1 was equally effective which recorded a cumulative mean reduction of 71.88 and 56.69 per cent mite population at Iyerpadi estate and Lower Paralai estate, respectively. The recommended dose of hexythiazox @ 25 g a.i. ha−1 was also on par with the two higher doses and registered an average per cent reduction of 70.73 and 52.91 per cent mites in first and second field experiments, respectively.
