Abstract

Hamelia patens is a subsistence minor flora for honeybees during dearth periods. It was observed that honeybees forage upon this shrub available in the vicinity of apiary, with great interest during unavailability of flora. Large scale plantation of Hamelia patens in homes, gardens/orchards may also be carried out so that it can be utilized by honeybees during monsoon season.
