Extensive collections of mayflies from the southern Western Ghats resulted in new record of the genus Povilla Navas, 1912 and redescribed based on larvae collected from Tamiraparani River, S.T. Mangad, Kanyakumari district, Tamil Nadu, India. Thereby providing geographic range extension from Sri Lanka to India and brief ecological notes are appended. Key to the larvae of Povilla also provided.
