The bioefficay of newer formulation of fipronil 0.8 G was investigated against brown planhopper. Granular application was given at 21 and 45 days after transplanting by broadcasting method. The brown rice incidence and the effect of fipronil 0.8 G (SIN1) on planthoppers was observed during first season (January - April 2015) and second season (October 2015- January 2016). In first season mean population reduction of 86.26, 82.74 and 77.44 per cent was observed in fipronil 0.8 G at 75, 50 and 40 g a.i ha−1 respectively. In second season mean population reduction of 77.99, 79.84 and 56.34 per cent was observed in fipronil 0.8 G at 75, 50 and 40 g a.i ha−1 respectively.
