The genus Phygasia was identified from South India by using DNA barcoding. The adult Phygasia were collected from Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu. The Genomic DNA was isolated and it was successfully amplified by cytochrome oxidase subunit I (COI). The amplified PCR product was visualized, purified and sequenced. The molecular analysis revealed that the collected species was Phygasia silacea. The phylogentic, morphological and taxonomic analysis enable us to understand the distribution and taxonomical orders on earth.
