Study on the insect faunal diversity of Mehr Chand Mahajan D.A.V. College for Women, Chandigarh

The adult insects belonging to different orders and families were observed and identified using the available taxonomic keys. Insects belonging to as many as nine orders and twenty six families were recorded during the investigations. An account of general habits and unique identification points of different insects has been documented. The family, scientific name, common name of the insects belonging to a particular order along with their colored photographs have been depicted. A pie chart depicting family wise distribution of insect orders in the college campus and a bar chart showing number of families and number of species under each order have also been constructed.
