Abstract

Aphids are most economically important insect belongs to the order Hemiptera. These sucking pest are causing yield losses directly (35 - 40%) through sucking the plant sap or indirectly (20 - 80%) through viral transmission. This review article addresses the different control strategies for aphid species in various host plants. Due to plasticity of life cycle and excessive use of insecticides over the years, insect pests develop resistance and inefficient to manage. So, there is a need for the alternative and effective substitutes to manage these pests. With help of nanotechnology, entomopathogenic fungus (EPF) mediated silver nanoparticles have become one of the most promising new approaches for pest control in recent years.
