Abstract

Present results documented the genetic variability of 6 different species of predatory coccinellid beetles viz., Coccinella septempunctata (CS), Cheilomenes sexamaculata (MS), Coccinella transversalis (CT), Micraspis discolour (MD), Harmonia dimidiata (Black) (HD), Propylea species (PQ) along with a variant of Harmonia dimidiata (Spotted) (HY) in Tarai region of Pantnagar. Results further revealed that out of the eight different primers of cytochrome oxidase gene, primer P1 was found to be a suitable marker to distinguish variability between 6 species of coccinellids with highest RP (2.71) and MI (2.19) values. The variant of H. dimidiata (spotted) also had genetic difference in their COI region and this provided firsthand information about the diversity of predatory coccinellids in Pantnagar, Tarai region of Uttarakhand.
