The main application of forensic entomology is to determine the minimum time since death i.e. estimate a postmortem interval (PMI) in cases of suspected criminal events, either by collecting and analyzing the composition of the insect's species found on the dead body or guessing the age of the eldest necrophagous insects that developed on the corpse. Therefore, this paper discusses the principles of forensic entomology and some factors that may lead to the investigators face some difficulties in estimating the time since death in suspicious death cases. It is concluded that the use of insects and arthropods has been successfully studied to aid in forensic investigation. Since, this may be very useful to provide the evidence in court to reduce the unnecessary confusing questions.
