A total of ten varieties of mung bean viz., Sattaya, Basanti, MH 421, MH 318, IPM 023, Pusa Ratna, Pusa Vishal, SML 668, IPM 4103 and RMG 492 were evaluated against C. chinensis. It was found that none of the mung bean varieties was free from infestation of C. chinensis. However, varieties MH 318, RMG 492 and Sattaya were found moderately preferred followed by IPM 023, MH 421 and IPM 4103. Variety SML 668 was observed to be most preferred for the ovipositional preference (109.33 and 93.33 eggs/50 grains in choice and no choice conditions, respectively), population growth (414.50 adults), grain loss and weight loss (49.04% and 30.52%, respectively) followed by Pusa Vishal. Pusa Ratna was observed to be least preferred as the ovipositional preference (60.66 and 35.33 eggs/50 grains in choice and no choice conditions, respectively), population growth (251.83 adults), grain loss and weight loss (34.82% and 15.31%, respectively) followed by Basanti.
