The field experiment was conducted to evaluate the bio-efficacy of different insecticides as seed treatment against sorghum shoot fly (Atherigona soccata Rondani). The various treatment used were seed treatment with Imidacloprid 70 WS, Fipronil 5 SC, Chlorantraniliprole 18.5 SC, Thiamethoxam 30 FS, Thiamethoxam (19.8 w/w) + Cyantraniliprole (19.8 w/w), Soil application of Carbofuran 3G, and untreated control. Among the various insecticides Thiamethoxam 30 FS was found most effective against sorghum shoot fly and recorded minimum mean per cent oviposition at 12 DAG and dead heart at 28 DAE (42.96 and 39.45%; 20.0 and 10.1%); and gave maximum reduction over control (29.9 and 46.7%) during both the years, respectively. All the treatments were superior to the control and reduction over control ranged from 17.4 to 46.7 per cent.
