Abstract

During population monitoring of the Medfly, Ceratitis capitata (Wiedemann), the performance of two trapping devices was studied in citrus, fig and pear orchards at the Technical Institute of Fruit and Vine in Mohammadia. Two traps viz. Fly Catcher® (McPhail) trap baited with protein hydrolysate food-based lure and the Delta® trap baited with the male-specific parapheromone trimedlure were tested. Results indicated that Flycatcher traps showed similar efficiency as compared to the Delta traps.
