Abstract

An experiment was conducted to evaluate the toxicity of six plant extracts agaist 3rd instar caterpillar of Agrotis ypsilon (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) under laboratory conditions. The relative toxicity of ether extract of selected plants was calculated by finding the LC50 value and Adhatoda vasica was taken as unit. Acorus calamus, Datura stamonium and Azadirachta indica were found to be highly toxic and the relative toxicity of these plant extracts was 2.1345, 2.0263 and 1.7794 times higher respectively than that of Adhatoda vasica. The other two extracts namely Allium cepa and Allium sativum were 1.5924 and 1.3977 times higher toxic than Adhatoda vasica.
