Five different types of virgin female baited traps were evaluated for their role in influencing the catches of L. lepidophora male beetles in areca gardens. The overall mean of 13 weeks in study period revealed that bucket trap with plastic box was found to be significantly superior by recording highest beetles (14.14 ± 0.9 males/trap/week), followed by bucket trap with plastic ball (8.18 ± 2.49 males/trap/week). Significantly greater number of L. lepidophora male beetles was trapped on the bucket trap with plastic box trap. The present study suggest that the virgin female baited trap concept may be useful as a trapping techniques for of male beetles and may have potential as a tool that can be used in the development of new eco-friendly integrated pest management strategy.
