Effectiveness of sulfoxaflor 12% SC against green peach aphid, Myzus persicae (Sulzer) in potato
Abstract
Field study was conducted to know the effect of sulfoxaflor 12% S.C. against green peach aphid. The pooled data of two seasons (kharif 2018 and rabi 2018–19) indicated that sulfoxaflor 12% SC @ 27 g a.i./ha was superior in reducing the population of aphids (0.86 per plant) with a reduction of 93.2%. Which was superior over sulfoxaflor 12% SC @ 24 g a.i./ha and thiamethoxam 25 W.G. @ 21 g a.i./ha. The highest yield of potato (17.73 t/ha) was recorded in the sulfoxaflor 12% SC @ 27 g a.i./ha treated plot. Whereas in control, it recorded 10.53 t/ha. Overall, the study revealed that sulfoxaflor 12% SC insecticide efficiently reduced the aphids in potato. The implications of the results in management of aphid-transmitted viral diseases in potato has been discussed.
