Abstract

Commonly using plant protection code (PPC) approved insecticides and acaricides were evaluated against the eggs of tea mosquito bug (TMB) and red spider mite (RSM) respectively, in a recommended concentration under the laboratory conditions. The evaluated eggs (1-day, 3-days and 5-days old) and adults of TMB were highly susceptible to the Quinalphos, Deltamethrin and Thiamethoxam + L-Cyhalothrin and they produced 100% ovicidal activity as well as adult mortality. But, Thiacloprid, Thiamethoxam and Emamectin benzoate were failed to achieve notable ovicidal activity and nil residual activity also noted over the hatched nymphs from the treated eggs. In RSM, the acaricides such as Spiromesifen, Hexythiazox, Propargite, Fenpyroximate and Fenazaquin achieved 100% ovicidal action as well extremely toxic to adults too. Also, their combinations are too promising in the control of eggs and adults of RSM under laboratory conditions. Based on the study, contact insecticides alone or with systemic insecticides performed well against eggs and adults of TMB. In addition, all evaluated acaricides showed extremely toxicity to eggs and adults of RSM.
