Abstract

The bionomics of the silkworm (Bombyx mori L.) was conducted on the mulberry plant variety V1 (Vectory 1). Single female of silkworm moth layed 343 ± 2 eggs; which were deposited singly with sticky material. The hatching took less than ten days, with a success rate of 96 ± 2%. After four moults, the larvae reached full maturity in 24 ± 1 days. The average pre-pupa and pupal periods were of 3 and 11 days, respectively, and the average pre-ovipositional and ovipositional period was 6:30 ± 1 h. Females have a longer average lifespan than males with 6 and 4 days, respectively. The sex ratio was 1: 1.5 (male: female).
