Evaluation of the level of environmental knowledge, attitude and performance of Kashan University of Medical Sciences students

Present study aims to investigate the level of environmental knowledge, attitude and performance of Kashan University of Medical Sciences students. This descriptive-analytical study was conducted on 325 students of Kashan Medical School by random sampling method. The data was collected using a standard questionnaire to evaluate students’ environmental knowledge, attitude and performance. The data was analyzed using SPSS (v.16), with descriptive statistics and analytical tests at the significance level of 0.05. The mean scores of knowledge, attitude and performance were 7.35 ± 1.78, 10.67 ± 2.23, and 4.72 ± 4.09 (weak), respectively. A significant difference was found between environmental knowledge and people's age, as well as the environmental performance of single and married subjects. The most effective method to improve students’ knowledge and attitude and to institutionalize environmental culture is comprehensive education through information resources, especially mass media.
