Abstract

Twelve okra varieties were screened against Earias vittella to know their response on the basis of shoot and fruit damage scale. Based on the infestation of the shoot and fruits the varieties were graded as resistant, moderately resistant, moderately susceptible, susceptible sources. Variety, Rudra (4.33%) recorded minimum damage in shoots and fruits (4.33 and 4.75%, respectively) and was graded as resistant. Variety Mala (12.33%), Mansi (12.33%), Juli (13.32%) and Siri-366 (13.67%) were found moderately resistant to shoot and fruit damage and Neha (21.00%), Super green (21.31%), Goldi (21.54%), Swarna-5029 (22.33%), Ankur-41 (23.33%), Kaveri-54 (24.46%) and Rajrani (24.66%) were moderately susceptible to Earias vittella. On the basis of fruit damage, varieties Juli (12.06%), Siri-366 (13.09%), Mansi (13.34%), Mala (14.12%) were found moderately resistant and Neha (21.26%), Kaveri-366 (22.51%), Swarna-5029 (22.98%), Goldi (23.71%), Super green (24.01%) and Ankur-41 (24.68%) were moderately susceptible to Earias vittella. Rajrani (31.14%) was found susceptible to okra shoot and fruit borer.
