Abstract

Seed damage mean calculated for each genetic material ranged from 12.29% (279 B) to 38.42% (P 151). Four sorghum lines viz., 27 A, 279 A, UPMC 503, and P 311 recorded less than 15% seed damage. The means of seed weight loss for each genetic material showed that PC 9 recorded minimum seed weight loss (2.72%) followed by 27 A, 279 B, CSB 21F, UPMC 503 and MP Chari and were statistically not significant. Sorghum line P151 recorded the highest per cent seed weight loss (16.74%) while five lines viz., 279 A, PC 23, SPV 125, P 311 and SPV 1015 recorded less than 5% seed weight loss. Entries like 279 A, PC 23, SPV 125, P 311 and SPV 1015 can be new sources of resistance against S. oryzae.
