Abstract

Yield losses and ETL of B. tabaci (Gennadius) on brinjal were estimated. Density-yield relationship was studied by testing population levels of 0, 3, 6, 9, 12 and 15 adults/leaf of B. tabaci. The highest yield of 491.5 q/ha was registered at zero infestation level and it decreased to 440.5 q/ha at population level of 15 adults/leaf. The per cent yield loss at population level of 15, 12, 9, 6 and 3 adults/leaf were 10.40, 8.24 3.36, 2.95 and 1.46%, respectively. The yield losses at average fruit price of 1150/q were in the range of 8280 to 58765/ha. The economic injury level (EIL) and economic threshold level (ETL) of B. tabaci on brinjal was calculated as 13.0 and 9.8 whitefly adults/leaf, respectively. Thus management decision should be taken when population reached 9.8 adults/leaf.
