Abstract

The mean number of fruits under protected and unprotected set ranged from 19.3 to 32.8 and 9.6 to 15.4 with a mean of 25.39 and 12.45, respectively during 1st year. Almost similar trend was obtained during next year (Kharif) where fruits per plant ranged from 26.2 to 38.7 and 13.6 to 18.1 under protected and unprotected set, respectively. The per cent avoidable loss in number of fruits and average weight of total fruits per plant was observed as 50.75 and 50.00% and 51.04 and 51.14% in 1st year and 2nd year, respectively.
