Study on biodiversity of planthopper fauna (Cixiidae and Delphacidae: Hemiptera) in rice crop-ecosystems of southern and scarce rainfall zones of Andhra Pradesh

Abstract

The planthopper fauna collected from rice includes, Cixius clitellus (Ball), Cixius (Orinocixius) sp., Cemus sp., Coranocella sinhalana, (Kirkaldy), Euidella sp., Harmalia anacharis (Metcalf), Nilaparvata lugens (Stal), Nisia nervosa (Melichar), Opiconsiva sp., Peregrinus maidis (Ashmead), Perkinsiella sinensis (Kirkaldy), Sogatella furcifera (Horvath), S. kolophon (Kirkaldy), S. vibix (Haupt), Sardia sp., Stenocranus sp., Tagosodes pusanus (Distant), Terthron albovittatum (Matsumura), Toya bridwelli (Distant), T. propinqua (Fieber) and Tropidocephala serendiba (Melichar). An illustrated key along with diagnostic taxonomic characters were provided for easy identification of the planthoppers associated with rice crop eco-systems.
