Determination of crop loss and economic injury levels against tephritid fruit flies (Bactrocera sps) in cucumber ecosystem

Department of Entomology, College of Agriculture, Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat - 785 013, Assam, India

Abstract

The results on yield loss (pooled data) revealed that the per cent fruit infestation of fruit fly was highest in untreated control plot (30.73%) as compared to treated plot (26.8%) with fruit yield of 1223.91 kg/ha and 2311.83 kg/ha, respectively. The yield loss in untreated plot was recorded as 1087.91 kg/ha with 47.05% avoidable loss in yield. Whereas, maximum per cent yield increase over control in 2-year study was 88.88%. However, economic injury level (EIL) of fruit fly workout on cucumber was 15.27 and 10.40% with per cent fruit loss of 0.743 and 0.815 during 1st and 2nd years, respectively.
