Field trial on studying the compatibility of silicon with insecticides in managing white backed planthopper (WBPH) and leaffolder (LF) infesting rice revealed effective containment of LF with a maximum of 74% decline in leaf damage when combined with acephate 75 SP spray as against 63.8% decline by the insecticide alone. WBPH could effectively be managed by combined use of dinotefuran 20 SG or (dinotefuran + buprofezin) 58 WDG with DAE with a maximum of 78% decline in hopper population. Treatments receiving acephate plus DAE resulted in 68.5% decline in hopper population compared to 41.27% by acephate alone revealing the compatibility of DAE with test insecticides. Plots with silicon amendment combined with insecticide spray contributed to effective management of LF and WBPH leading to 11 - 27 q/ha yield enhancement.
