This study reports the first occurrence of Tamba occidinawa Holloway, 2005, on the Indian mainland, specifically from Alakkad, Kannur district, Kerala. The female genitalia were dissected and described. The scarcity of information on T. occidinawa reflects the broader issue of the inadequate study of certain moth species in India. With only a handful of documented reports and lack of comprehensive taxonomic studies, much remains unknown about its behaviour, habitat preferences, and potential ecological significance. The absence of readily available data on its life cycle, preferred host plants, and geographical distribution hinders a thorough understanding of its role within the local ecosystem. This finding expands our understanding of the distribution of T. occidinawa and contributes to the growing knowledge of the genus in India.
