Abstract

Companion crops like safflower and sesame effectively deterred the important pests on cabbage and recorded significantly lower pest populations and damages. Growing mustard as trap crop helped further to suppress population build up in main crop. Companion cropping helped to obtain good yields and comfortable benefit-cost ratio (Yield: 10261 - 19860 kg/ha, yield gain: 12.91 - 118.52%, BCR: 1.31 - 6.53). Providing additional support in the form of foliar sprays with bt formulation and botanical extracts resulted in improved performance (Yield: 21508 -21583 kg/ha, yield gain: 136.66 -137.48%, BCR: 6.74 -6.82).
