Abstract

Various biochemical constituents in 44 genotypes of brinjal were quantified. The starch content of fruit (-0.965 & -0.982) and phenols of fruit (-0.961 & -0.984) and leaf (-0.965 & -0.969) showed negative correlation with fruit and shoot damage per cent of fruit and shoot borer. Jassid intensity based on hopper burn symptoms and jassid number showed negative correlation with starch content of fruit (-0.420 & -0.524), phenols of fruit (-0.420 & -0.519) and leaf (-0.382 & -0.469). Moreover, Hadda beetle number and whitefly number showed negative correlation with total sugars of fruit (-0.506 & -0.474), reducing sugars of fruit (-0.408 & -0.358), non-reducing sugars of fruit (-0.238 & -0.236) and leaf moisture (-0.391 & -0.393).
