Abstract

A large number of insects were found congregating on the rice fields in some places of Manipur in last kharif 2023 (rainy season). Upon closer observation, the insect was identified as blue shieldbug, Zicrona caerulea, a pentatomid predator of weeds. This small blue bug measuring about 6-7 mm was found feeding on weeds such as Ammanea baccifera in the rice fields. This beneficial insect needs conservation.
