Antioxidant and antimicrobial investigation of robinia and carom medicated honey prepared by honeybees

Abstract

According to the data available, an extensive research and labor is being done to demonstrate the scientific benefits of honey. Several herbal remedies have also been used as traditional medicine to cure ailments, in addition to honey by mankind for ages. The scientific community is now trying to integrate the health benefits of herbs and honey based on the information mentioned in ancient texts. A variety of herbal honey has already hit the market and is proven to cure several diseases. The present study is concerned with the evaluation of herb-infused honey (Robinia pseud oacacia and Trachyspermum ammi) and mixed flora honey for its antioxidant and antimicrobial properties. Antioxidant activity of herbal honey has been reported as high whereas antibacterial activity of multiflora honey was better.
