Abstract

The pollinator diversity on pigeonpea varieties namely Manak and PAU 881 revealed the presence of a total of 12 insect species from two orders viz., Hymenoptera and Diptera. The insects belonging to order Hymenoptera were most abundant on both the varieties. Among these, Hymenopterans recorded 93.08% of all visitors on Manak variety and 91.5% on PAU 881 variety. Out of all the visitors, Megachile lanata were most abundant with 11.70% proportion on Manak and 11.11% proportion on PAU 881 variety, respectively. The only one insect from order Diptera was reported with 6.92% proportion on Manak and 8.5% proportion on PAU 881 variety, respectively.
